The lakes here are something else
Lake Pichola is just stunning. The water reflects the palaces and it looks almost unreal. Boat rides are totally worth it. The whole city feels like it was built for people who enjoy slow travel and good views.
Old city streets are worth every step
Wandering through the lanes around the old city market was easily one of the best parts of the trip. Tiny shops selling silver jewelry, colorful fabric everywhere, and street food on every corner. Dal baati churma is a must-try if you haven't had it before.
Incredible place for photography lovers
Every single angle of this city is photogenic. The palaces, the ghats, the rooftop cafes overlooking the lake - my camera roll has never looked this good. City Palace alone kept me busy for hours. Totally lived up to everything I had heard.
Great city for a slow-paced cultural trip
Udaipur is one of those places that doesn't try too hard. The architecture is stunning and the pace is relaxed. Jagdish Temple is right in the middle of everything and worth a visit even if you are not religious. Food was really good and surprisingly affordable.
Beautiful city, friendly locals
People here are genuinely welcoming. Asked for directions twice and both times someone walked us partway there. The rooftop restaurants near Gangaur Ghat have the best views, especially at sunset. Rajasthani thali is filling, flavorful and cheap.
A city full of color and history
The palaces and temples here are unlike anything I've seen. City Palace is massive and well-preserved. The bazaars are full of handmade crafts and local textiles. Evenings by the lake are peaceful and the food scene is solid throughout.
